(PE) "My experience at ICPNA" (by edgardinho)

March is almost over such as the finalization of the complete-English-program. It is exciting when you notice that you have accomplished your goals with effort and dedication. Now in my last days of finishing advanced level, I would like to mention the most important things that I learned as a student at ICPNA. Studying at ICPNA gave me the opportunity to realize the importance of learning English as a second language, to learn about the experiences of our teachers and to make good friends.

First of all, I realized how important is learning English as a second language. For instance, studying English at Icpna and learning about the American culture allowed me to reduce the impact of the “culture shock” and the “language barrier” when I traveled abroad. Although I was alone when I arrived to the United States, I could be in contact with other people and make good friends at Warren’s Lobster House. Also, studying English gave me the chance to have gotten better job opportunities in Peru. In fact, my experience as a finance intern in Telefonica Moviles, processing some information in English is a good example of this.

Second, I learned about the experiences of our teachers. For example, Miss Ceci Ruiz recommend all students that we always should have a very good attitude and predisposition to learn and become better persons. I believe that following her advices, we will become successful. Another example is Professor Hugo Vergaray. He teaches all students the value of being responsible and very committed for any task you do. “The best way to show some respect to other people is that you have to be always on time in your meetings and do not have to blame others for your own mistakes”, he says.

Finally, I met many people and made good friends. Joining at the English conversation club, I met people from the United States. In fact, we talked about different topics about culture, music, sports, food and others. We also shared experiences about how to live in a different country. Joining at the normal English classes, I made good friends from other universities. After classes, we used to play pool and to go to the movies.

In brief, being a student at Icpna has allowed me to become a better person. Realizing the importance of learning English, learning about the teacher’s experiences and making good friends are good examples that support my opinion. Thanks all my teachers, for carrying in my memories the best of you.
